We started thinking about making a website doing computer hardware reviews of processors, video cards and motherboards in 2002. We had no website building experience so we first did a basic html course to learn the basics and then we set out ideas for what we wanted. We did some basic reviews such as the Socket 7 Video Card Comparison, AMD K62 550Mhz vs AMD Duron 750Mhz and Wintune 1997 CPU and FPU Chart. These early reviews proved to be popular so we started thinking of ways to improve the Ultimate Hardware website. These improvements included learning some basic seo optimisation methods which might work with Ultimate Hardware. It's at this point that Ultimate Hardware starting taking off and the costs started mounting up. This is when my friend left working on Ultimate Hardware so it became just my hobby. To cut costs I decided it was time to think of something to reduce the bandwidth use which was costing more and more. Read on to find out what happened next in the 10 year story of Ultimate Hardware.

The new Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition is targeted to users who want a high-end video card but don't want to pay an arm and a leg to buy one. Let's take a look at its performance
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/AMD-Radeon-HD-7870-GHz-Edition-Video-Card-Review/1501
The new Radeon HD 7850 is a mid-range video card based on the latest GPU architecture from AMD, dubbed "Graphics Core Next" or simply "GCN," which supports the new PCI Express 3.0 connection and the latest DirectX version (11.1). Let's compare it to its main competitor, the GeForce GTX 560 Ti.
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/AMD-Radeon-HD-7850-Video-Card-Review-Review/1502
We've mentioned a lot about our thoughts on the HD 7700 series as a whole along with the general thought process on each model and like we've said every time, while AMD has the HD 6800 series at a similar price point, the HD 7700 series continues to lose its shine as it sits slower. The HD 7800 series and HD 7900 series on the other hand don't have any competition within their own camp giving us a price point from AMD that isn't offered at the moment. So far we've seen the HD 7850 hits that $249 price tag perfectly. Now we want to find out if the extra $100 associated with the HD 7870 is worth the jump up.
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4595/amd_radeon_hd_7870_2gb_reference_video_card_review/index.html
While the HD 7700 series left us feeling overall pretty flat, the same can't be said for AMD's new HD 7900 series which offered us awesome performance. Along with strong numbers, though, we saw the new 28nm based cards run cooler, quieter and draw less power at both idle and load - they impressed us a lot. We've got our fingers crossed that the HD 7800 series sits more in line with the HD 7900 series than it does the HD 7700 series. Considering AMD also have no older previous generation video cards at the $249 price point for the HD 7850 and $349 price point for the HD 7870, we're already off to a better start.
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4594/amd_radeon_hd_7850_2gb_reference_video_card_review/index.html
At long last, AMD has filled the gaping hole in its next-generation Radeon lineup. A new pair of graphics cards bas come to slot in right between the high-end Radeon HD 7900 series and the decidedly less high-end 7700 series, offering gamers some fresh meat at $249. And today's arrivals have the potential to be AMD's most compelling next-gen offerings yet.

AMD has released the Second Series 7000 Video Card which is the AMD Radeon HD 7950. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 uses the Tahiti just like the AMD Radeon HD 7970. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 uses Clock Speed of 800Mhz so with the Process Technology being 28nm should mean the AMD Radeon HD 7950 runs cool and power efficent. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 has 1792 Stream Processors which is 13% less than the 2068 found on the AMD Radeon HD 7970. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 uses 3GB GDDR5 just like the AMD Radeon HD 7970 so it's performance should be fairly close behind. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 has 112 Texture Units compared to 128 with the AMD Radeon HD 7970. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 has a 89Gtexs Texture Fillrate compared to 118Gtexs on the AMD Radeon HD 7970. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 has the Memory Clock at 1250Mhz while the AMD Radeon HD 7970 is 1375Mhz. The AMD Radeon HD 7950 delivers Memory Bandwidth of 240GBs while the AMD Radeon HD 7970 delivers 264GBS which is impressive. Both the AMD Radeon HD 7950 and AMD Radeon HD 7970 use a Memory Bus Speed of 384Bit.

The new Radeon HD 7950, which is being released today, is a more affordable version of the Radeon HD 7970. Let's check its performance and see if it is a good choice for users looking for a high end video card

It is time for the second product based of the series 7900 though, the Radeon HD 7950 launches today. AMD took the Tahiti XT GPU sliced away some shader units, clocked it a notch slower and planted it onto a new PCB lined up with a new cooler. Overall the R7950 will not disappoint, good performance, impressive power consumption and great heat and noise levels. But will a 400 EUR pricetag however justify this product ?

Like the HD 6950, we hope today that the AMD Radeon HD 7950 comes in at that same strong price point and performance level that makes it such an attractive option for people who want some serious GPU power, but don't want to quite spend the money that's associated with buying the highest end single GPU offering. Today is of course all about the HD 7950 and the particular one is the brand new Black Edition Double Dissipation model from XFX. This isn't the first time we've see the Black Edition Double D name as we saw XFX launch the HD 7970 Black Edition Double Dissipation 3GB on January 9th

With the release of the new Radeon 79xx series cards we may have witnessed a change in graphics King. The 7970 is without a doubt currently the performance king. The problem is priced anywhere from $579 for the standard edition 7970 to over $800 for an overclocked version you have a card that few but the affluent can afford. Into the Sapphire 7950 Overclock Edition an enthusiast level graphics card more than capable of rendering any game you want to play even in Eyefinity (as we will demonstrate) for a mere $480 or lower. This puts it in a much more affordable and thus more appealing category.

Benchmark Reviews recently took a look at XFX's R7970 Black Edition Double Dissipation version of AMD's new top end Tahiti based video cards. It's the fastest single GPU video card we've ever tested, but the $600.00 price was a little hard to take, especially with NVIDIA's GTX580 widely available for more than $100 less. Today XFX has supplied us with the next step down the Tahiti line, the R7950 Black Edition Double Dissipation.

After retaking the single GPU performance crown with the Radeon HD 7970, AMD has returned with a cheaper 7950 variant that's nearly as fast. We explore how the 7950's gaming performance compares to the competition before overclocking the thing to nearly 1200MHz.

With the launch of the 7950 now here, how have XFX managed to tweek the reference design in the Black Edition Overclocked to push towards 7970 territory?
